BenefitsCal California has the centralized online portal, known as BenefitsCal that enables the residents to apply, view, and manage public assistance programs without difficulty. Introduced as BenefitsCal between September 2021 and October 2023, the new system supplanted a number of separate legacy systems, such as C4Yourself, YourBenefitsNow, and MyBenefits CalWIN, and included access to all 58 counties.

This new system offers one safe site where Californians can apply to receive food assistance (CalFresh), cash-based benefits (CalWORKs), health benefits (Medi-Cal), and others. Under BenefitsCal, a user will have the capability of reviewing their Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) balances, uploading documents, updating personal information and making appointments, all at their convenience online.

Created on the basis of the California Statewide Automated Welfare System (CalSAWS), BenefitsCal assists in the determination of the eligibility and the management of the cases along with enhancing the communication between the clients, the county workers, and the community organizations. The platform has been created through massive citizen consultation so that it can have an easy user experience by various populations.

It saves time, minimizes confusion, and assists in making sure that residents receive the assistance they require in the most efficient way due to consolidation of several programs in one portal.
